Clean a field recording

The hum goes, the drips stay.

  1. Let it learn the hum from a quiet bit.
  2. Turn the hum down and cut the rumble.
  3. Click Compare to hear what changed.

Tidy a podcast

Pauses cut, the start trimmed, the level set for listening.

  1. Drag across a pause and pick Cut.
  2. Trim the start.
  3. Bring the whole thing to podcast loudness.

Build a sound cue for a show

Eight seconds, faded in and out, waiting for its moment.

  1. Pull the level down a little and keep eight seconds.
  2. Fade in over a second, out over three.
  3. Fire it when the show reaches the cue.

Loop a room tone

A steady background that runs as long as the show does.

  1. Keep eight even seconds from the middle.
  2. Add tiny fades so the loop never clicks.
  3. Turn on Loop.

Make a whoosh from a door creak

A creak that swells instead of dying away.

  1. Reverse it.
  2. Stretch it to twice as long.
  3. Add a long reverb tail and fade it in.
